Perfect fit Bilstein B3 front coil springs for my 97 sl500 R129.

Be sure to also buy/rent the proper Mercedes spring compressor tool, as the standard threaded rods with hooks spring compressor will not work on this car.
You need the 1 with the central telescoping rod and end plates.
Many cheap Chinese knockoffs of the original German tool
available. Not as good, but at 10% of the cost of genuine tool,
will work if CAREFUL - VERY CAREFUL.
Also CLEAN all shipping OIL off the PLATES of the special spring compressor tool AND the spring COILS, as the plates have a HIGH tendency to slip on the coils while compressing.
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE COMPRESSOR TOOL.
Also replace the plastic boots at the top of the springs while replacing the springs, they come in several thickness, all specified in mm, so check size of the old one on the car, and order new ones them based on that.
Bilstein also makes the boots, as do others, Febi etc.
Also best to replace springs in axle pairs, so order a minimum of 2 for each axle.
