I just installed these in my 2012 Jetta, 2.5 liter gas engine. These replaced the exact model that I installed last time. The fuel economy went up considerably, even after only 33,000 miles. The owner's manual calls for replacement after 40,000 miles, but given the performance difference I'll probably replace again after 30,000 miles. What I save in gas is surely worth the early replacement cost. Since the air filter is in the engine cover, that's the time to replace the air filter, as well.
