Installed fine. Works well. Had to purchase the plastic housing because the tabs always break when removing the old thermostat and you can't align the o-ring, t-stat and housing without those tabs. All thermostats for the TDI should have a catalog reminder to add the housing or be sold as a kit.

Had it installed for a few weeks now. My TDI had been running about 15 degrees cool, not enough to show on the gauge but confirmed by Vcds. This fixed it. I have read that done thermostats won't clip into the flange properly for installation, but this one does.
