Here is my experience installing these. Been a long time since I have worked on a mercedes and had never done this job before. You have to remove diff cover, pull c-clips then shafts can come out of diff. Old shafts pulled out of hubs fine. There are shims on old shafts on diff side, when new shafts are installed you have to refit with new shims. Mercedes does not apparently have shims anymore. Reused old shims but was way too tight, like shafts and spider gears would not turn in carrier. Ended up ordering new shims from mcmaster-carr, 1008-1010 Carbon Steel Ring Shim Set, 1-1/4" ID (I think it was $35 with tax and shipping), The inside diameter is slightly smaller so we had to rotate and dremel out material until they would slide on new shafts. Had to refit with trying new shims a couple time so that c-clips would rotate but shafts would not clunk in diff. New ones were 1/2" longer and had to drop the diff down to get these in the hubs. All together it worked, just a little more work and more parts cost than I expected.
